Abstract: In order to deeply understand the coal mine gas disaster accidents, the characteristics and prevention countermeasures of coal mine gas disaster accidents are analyzed. Based on the data of gas disaster accidents in coal mines in China from 2012 to 2021, the frequency and spatial-temporal distribution of gas accidents were analyzed from the aspects of time, region, month, cause and type of gas accidents by qualitative and quantitative methods. The results show that the number of gas accidents and deaths in March, May and August are much higher than those in other months, and most of the accidents occur from 10 : 00 to 12 : 00 in the morning. The number of gas explosion accidents accounts for the highest proportion of gas accident types and the largest number of deaths; in terms of geographical distribution, the southwest region of Guizhou, Shanxi and Sichuan has the highest incidence of gas disasters and the highest number of deaths.
