Abstract: The water accumulated in the overlying goaf of the coal mining face is the water source condition that causes the water outburst accident. In order to ensure the safe mining of No.21051 face in Huayang No.2 Mine, the position relationship and characteristics between No.21051 face and overlying No.3 coal seam working face goaf were analyzed, and the transient electromagnetic exploration was carried out. An abnormal area was obtained by transient electromagnetic exploration in the upper roadway. The roof exploration drilling hole was constructed at 1 180 m of the upper roadway, and the water accumulated in goaf of 27 821 m3 was drained, which ensured the safe mining of the working face. The study provided experience for the detection of water accumulation range in similar roof goaf.
