Research Progress of Ionic Liquid Corrosion Inhibitors

Metal and its alloys which were exposed in atmosphere or a particular environment ( high temperature, acid, alkali, NaCl, etc.) were susceptible to corrosion,corrosion inhibitor could effectively inhibit the metal corrosion. Because ionic liquid had special functions and unique physical properties, it became a kind of new green chemical inhibitor. The uses of ionic liquids for the corrosion protection ways of magnesium, aluminum and theirs alloys, carbon steel were reviewed and it was pointed out that the ionic liquids as corrosion inhibitors used in the battery had became a new research topic,the inhibition mechanism and film forming process of the ionic liquid should be further explored,the structure or chemical properties of the film should be optimized in order to improve the inhibition performance of ionic liquid.
