Abstract: Based on the online monitoring data of Shijiazhuang city from June to December in 2020. The pollution characteristics, ozone formation potential and pollution sources of VOCs in Shijiazhuang were analyzed. The study shows that the average VOCs concentration in Shijiazhuang is 28.42 ppbv. The order of average chemical composition of VOCs in Shijiazhuang is from high to low, followed by alkanes, olefins, aromatics and alkynes. The average Ozone Formation Potential (OFP) of VOCs in Shijiazhuang City is 186.56 μg/m3. Among them, alkenes contribute the highest OFP value to Shijiazhuang City, with a value of 85.69 μg/m3, accounting for 45.9%. Following alkenes are aromatic hydrocarbons and alkanes, with OFP values of 66.72 and 31.50 μg/m3, representing 35.8% and 16.9%, respectively. In terms of ozone formation potential, several components such as propylene, ethylene, meta/para-xylene, toluene, and isoprene play significant roles in ozone generation. The VOCs species contributing significantly to OFP are primarily sourced from solvent usage and plant emissions.
