Study on kinetic of γ-Al2O3 catalytic ozonation of bisphenol in water

The kinetic of γ-Al2O3 catalytic ozonation of bisphenol in water was studied using competitive kinetic method with phenol as a competitor. At room temperature and atmospheric pressure, the effects of catalyst dosage, ozone dosage and pH on the reaction rate constant kBPA were investigated. Results showed that the process of the ozonation of BPA by γ-Al2O3 accords with the first-order reaction kinetics model. The kBPA has a positive correlation with catalyst dosage(2-10 mg / L), and its range is 1.98×106 — 2.18×106 M-1·s-1. With the increase of the ozone dosage (3.97-8.5 mg/min), kBPA has a maximum value which is 2.33×106 M-1·s-1 when the ozone dosage is 6.52 mg / min. The initial pH value has a greater impact on kBPA, and with the increase of pH (3.0-11.0), kBPA increases exponentially from 1.43×103 to 1.77 × 109 M-1 ·s-1.
