In order to study the characteristics of air heavy pollution in major cities of Hebei Province, the primary pollutants, the spatial and temporal distribution of heavy pollution processes, the concentration level of PM2.5 and the occurrence and development characteristics of heavy pollution processes were analyzed in the major cities in 2015. The results show that the difference of regional air quality in Hebei Province is obvious, the spatial and temporal distribution of heavy pollution process is uneven, and the concentration of PM2.5 varies greatly. In 2015, there were seven PM2.5 heavy pollution processes in the whole province, all occurred during the heating period, high frequency, heavy pollution, and long duration space, mainly concentrated in the south central city of Hebei Province. In addition to the local higher pollutant emissions, the unfavorable meteorological diffusion conditions and special geographical location factors also account for a large proportion of the heavy pollution process.
