Accurately determining the development height of fractured zones in overlying strata and the manifestation patterns of mining pressure in gently inclined coal seam goaf provides conditions for coal mine safety management. No. 6170 Face of Kailuan Lvjiatuo Mine was taken as the engineering background. Theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and field monitoring were adopted to reveal overlying rock migration law of deep gently inclined coal seam, and the surrounding rock stress field of working face was investigated. The research results were shown that the height of fracture zone predicted by empirical formula was in the range of 8.1~33.7 m. The height of caving zone was verified as 6.7 m (caving-mining ratio of 1.7) and the height of fracture zone as 26.4 m (fracture-mining ratio of 6.6) by similar simulation tests. The average influence range of advance abutment pressure of working face was measured as approximately 72.9 m by similar model; the distance from peak stress point to coal wall was averaged about 24.5 m, and the maximum stress concentration factor reached 1.65. The vertical stress of goaf floor was distributed in trapezoidal symmetry, and the maximum value in central part was recovered to 65% of in-situ stress. The average influence range of advance abutment pressure of working face was obtained as about 76 m through field monitoring, and the measured average stress concentration factor was about 1.56. The important basis for gas control and mine pressure control in deep gently inclined coal seam mining was provided by the research results.
