The residual supporting stress formed by the coal pillars left in the mining area directly affects the mining of the undercut coal seam. In this paper, with the engineering background of Heilong Mine 2102 working face and the air return roadway, the differential control principles and ideas of the surrounding rocks were proposed, like the principle of timely active support with high prestressing force and collaborative bearing of supporting structure of surrounding rocks, and the idea of differential control in sub-region, the differential support technology in the leftover coal pillars was developed. The application results verified the reasonableness of the control ideas and support schemes, and provided references for support in gob-side entry roadway in complex conditions.
