Abstract: In order to avoid the adverse effects of high stress section coal pillar on working face mining, the section coal pillar of Xinhe Coal Mine in Shandong Province affected by faults was taken as an example, and a comprehensive research method combining theoretical calculation, engineering analogy and numerical analysis was used to study the reasonable width of deep high stress section coal pillar under the influence of fault structure. Based on the limit equilibrium theory and engineering analogy, the reasonable section coal pillar width was about 90 m. The numerical analysis results showed that the coal pillar of the width section could remain stable ; a coal pillar stability control scheme for roof breaking and pressure relief in high rock strata was proposed. The research results provided guidance for the determination of section coal pillar width, working face layout and safe mining under similar geological and production technical conditions.
