Abstract: The advanced support section of the mining roadway is prone to deformation and damage under high stress, and the stability of surrounding rock is of great significance for normal ventilation, transportation, and pedestrians in the working face. With the improvement of equipment technology level, hydraulic supports are often used to strengthen the support in the advanced support area of mining tunnels. Due to the frequent "up and down" support required by the advanced hydraulic supports as the working face advances, it is easy to exacerbate the degree of roof fragmentation in the broken roadway roof, seriously affecting the support effect. This article proposed the replacement of advanced hydraulic support with reinforced anchor cable support method. The parameters of reinforced anchor cable support were determined by theoretical calculation combined with FLAC3D numerical simulation, and applied in the advanced support section of the return air roadway in No.1505 Face, ensuring the safe mining of the 1505 working face. It also provided reference for the study of advanced support methods in fully mechanized caving working faces with similar geological condition.
