Abstract:The coal-bearing strata in Bayangaole field is the middle and lower Jurassic Yan 'an formation. Due to the large number of coal seams, large thickness changes and large borehole spacing, some coal seams have the phenomenon of thickening, thinning, pinching and merging, and the difficulty of coal seam comparison is increased. Taking the bottom boundary of No.3-1 coal seam as the baseline, four methods including marker layer method, coal seam interval method, coal seam characteristics method and logging curve characteristics method were mainly adopted to make a comparison. Finally, the reliability of coal seam comparison was evaluated. The results showed that the comparison of coal seams was clear and reliable. Through comparison, it was found that the spacing between No.4-1 and lower 4-1 coal seams gradually decreased from west to east, and the coal seams had a tendency to merge. The upper 5-2 coal seam was sunk in the northwest of the exploration area. It provided a reliable basic geological basis for the correct division of coal seams and the correct estimation of reserves.
