No. 9 coal of Gequan Mine in Xingtai mining area was tested by two methods of coal quality and coal rock. The result showed that No. 9 coal was low-moisture, medium-ash, medium-volatile, high-sulfur and low-phosphorus coal. The macroscopic coal rocks were semi-bright coal and the maceral of coal rocks was vitrinite. Romax was 2.36%, which was high in deterioration degree. According to the coal facies analysis, No. 9 coal was formed in a relatively humid reducing environment, and the peat swamp type was a humid forest swamp with deep overlying water. Lake water intruded during the deposition, and coal plants were dominated by woody plants.
