The geological background of Fengda Mine in Longyan County and the basic situation of No.2 coal seam  of the main recoverable coal seams in the whole district were introduced. The coal and rock characteristics of the coal seam were analyzed. The macroscopic coal rock types were mostly semi-dark-dark coal; the organic micro-coal type was mainly vitrinite, the mineral mainly composed of clay. The coal quality analysis showed that the raw coal was medium ash, medium and high volatile, low sulfur, low phosphorus, ultra low fluorine and low chlorine coal; the coal seam as gas coal, belongs to medium and high calorific value, strong cohesiveness and easy coal preparation. By studying the characteristics of coal quality, it was found that No. 2 coal seam was widely used for coal for coking, gasification and power.
