Research on Adsorption of Plasma Modified Grafting Attapulgite with Chitosan on Waste Liquid Containing 4,4'-Dichlorobiphenyl

Plasma technique was applied to graft chitosan(CS) on attapulgite(ATT) to improve their dispersion property and sorption ability for polychlorinated biphenyls. The CS grafted attapulgite(CC-g-ATT) was analyzed using Fourier Transform Infrared ( FT-IR) and the results indicated that CS was successfully grafted on the surfaces of attapulgite. The experimental factors such as solid content, pH value on the adsorption ratio of 4,4'-dichlorobiphenyl( 4,4'-DCB) were investigated. Experimental results indicated that the sorption curve of CC-g-ATT on 4,4'-DCB was much higher than that of 4,4'-DCB on attapulgite and the sorption percentage of CC-g-ATT on 4,4'-DCB fluctuated very little in pH range of 2-7. CC-g-ATT was a suitable sorbent in the preconcentration and solidification of 4,4'-DCB from aqueous solutions.
