Abstract: In order to solve the problem of harmful gas accumulation and low oxygen phenomenon in the upper corner of the working face of Shaping Coal Industry, the causes of the formation of low oxygen hidden danger in the upper corner are comprehensively analyzed. By setting the measuring point sampling, the gas composition changes in the overlying goaf and the working face of the coal seam are detected, so as to reveal the distribution law of gas in the goaf. The results show that the primary occurrence of coal seam and the oxidation of floating coal in goaf at room temperature are the main sources of low oxygen gas. Due to the oxygen supply of surface cracks, a large amount of low oxygen gas is generated by the oxidation of floating coal in the goaf of overlying coal seam into the goaf of No.8 coal seam through cracks, and then flows out to the working face through the air leakage channel of the working face, and the air flow converges to the upper corner, resulting in the occurrence of low oxygen phenomenon. Finally, the measures of plugging the air leakage channel and optimizing the ventilation management are put forward to reduce the oxygen supply to the goaf and block the migration path of low oxygen gas, which can effectively prevent the hidden danger of low oxygen and harmful gas accumulation in the upper corner.
