In order to solve the oversize of shallow buried coal pillars and improve the mining rate, the reasonable size of coal pillar 12 m was settled by the UDEC numeral simulation software, with industrial test. The test result showed that maximum separation roof of roadway achieved by 105 mm, the maximum of bottom heave 294 m, the maximum movement of the two sides 348 mm, meeting the needs of safe mining, the coal pillar width was reasonable.
