Muscone which is the most important ingredient of natural musk,can be used as super fragrant and in medicine.Beause the nature source of muscone is limited,it is synthesized antifically. Three main synthesis methods of muscone were reviewed in recent years which were cyclization of open-chain difunctional group compounds, enlarging ring of large cyclic compound and inserting methyl. It was pointed out that the antifical synthesis methods of muscone had some disadvertages which were long synthesis routes, difficult operation, high production, low yield etc.,so they hardly achieve industrialization,and the inserting methyl method has been a research focus in recent years.
