Abstract: In order to solve the significant deformation of the roof and coal pillar wall encountered in the process of driving the thick seam mining roadway in Wangzhuang Mine, No.9106 outer air roadway driving working face was taken as the research object, the problems existing in the original support scheme and the deformation and failure characteristics of the surrounding rock of the roadway were analyzed, and the optimization scheme of driving support was proposed. FLAC3D software was used to simulate the surrounding rock control effect of the original support scheme and the optimization scheme. Finally, the rationality of the proposed support optimization scheme was verified by field tests. The field monitoring results showed that after adopting the optimized tunneling support scheme, the roof and floor displacement after the stabilization of roadway deformation was 76 mm, which was 81.5% lower than the original support; The displacement of the two sides was 49 mm, which was 89.3% lower than the original support; The deformation and failure of surrounding rock after roadway excavation were effectively controlled.
