Based on low gas extraction efficiency, fast attenuation, gas control difficulties, a directional hydraulic fracturing and permeability enhancement technique was proposed, the technical principle and the process of increasing the permeability of the coal seam were studied, the dynamic characteristics of the parameters such as water injection pressure and flow rate with injection time during hydraulic fracturing were analyzed, and the fracturing process parameters were reasonably selected in combination with the actual conditions at the site. Hydraulic fracturing test was carried out, and the effect of gas extraction and coal seam permeability coefficient were observed and analyzed. The test results showed that after the implementation of hydraulic fracturing, the gas extraction amount increased by 2.2 times, the permeability coefficient of the coal seam in the area affected by hydraulic fracturing increased by 23 times, the permeability of the coal seam was improved, the gas extraction efficiency increased, and the effect of hydraulic fracturing on permeability increased significantly. The significant pressure relief and permeability enhancement effect of hydraulic fracturing greatly improved the drilling progress and relieved the tension of working face succession.
