For outburst thick coal seams without protective layer mining conditions, the regional outburst prevention measures such as gas pre-drainage are used for gas outburst prevention. Effective pressure relief protection range is needed when pressure relief effect caused by upper layer or upper section used to protect the lower layer or the lower section. In order to determine the effective pressure relief protection range formed after the mining of No. 2 coal seam, a survey plan was developed, and coal samples were taken through drilling along the construction for data analysis, the content, coal solidity coefficient, indirect calculation of coal seam gas pressure by 12、22、32 m outside of the goaf of No. 2 coal seam were studied. After comprehensive analysis, the effective pressure relief protection range was within 30 m outside the goaf of No.2  coal  mine coal seam, and the pressure relief range must not be less than 15 m from the width of the roadway. The research in this paper had certain guiding significance for determining the effective pressure relief protection range for the outburst thick coal seam without protective layer mining conditions.
