S - ( + ) - 4 - ( 2 - Methyl butyl ) diphenol is one of the important intermediates, can be prepared by reaction of S - ( + ) - 4 - ( 2 - methyl butyl ) biphenyl ethyl ketone obtained from  S - ( + ) - 4 - ( 2 - methyl butyl ) biphenyl, acetyl chloride and aluminum trichloride in the presence of aluminium chloride. The compound was carried on the quantitative analysis by gas chromatography, and the analysis error was compared with the same type of packed column and capillary column. The results show that the same testing results respectively, can be obtained. the content of S -( + ) - 4 -( 2 - methyl butyl ) diphenol using a filled column and a movable capillary column.
