The width of the coal column instability was analyzed for the problem of coal column stay size in the 9-301 workface. Simulation analysis of the plasticity zone and vertical stress values for different widths, and the 22 m wide collumn can meet the requirements of the coal column during the recovery period, ensure the stability of the roadway. Practice showed that the use of anchor cable + steel ladder bar beams + steel belt joint support method, reduced the amount of migration along the empty roadway surrounding rock, improved the stability of the roadway. The overall stability of the surrounding rocks along the empty roadway can meet the design requirements through on-site measurements.
