Based on support selection and geological characteristics of 18203 working face, reasonable support parameters were determined. FLAC3D numerical simulation method was used to study the relationship between support strength and strata behavior. The structural height of hydraulic support was calculated by method of empirical formula. Finally, four column hydraulic support was selected in fully mechanized mining process with 1.5 MPa supporting strength, 14355 kn working resistance, 2.9 ~ 4.2 m support height and 1.75 m center distance of support. Integrated roof timber and two grade of mutual help were determined. Two column shield hydraulic support could be selected in comprehensive mechanized coal mining with 1.6 MPa hydraulic support's strength, 16257 KN working surface resistance, 3.2 m ~ 6.0 m support height selection, 2.05 m center distance of support, and 2 model selection of stand columns. Integrated roof timber was selected and three grade of mutual help could be chose.
