Abstract: Based on the difficulty of excavation and support of large section roadway with rich water and sludging roof, the open-off cut of No.N11511 fully mechanized mining face was taken as an example, the excavation and support technology of large section open-off cut with rich water and sludging roof was studied. Combined with the actual geological conditions on site, the parameters such as the length, diameter and row spacing of bolts and anchor cables required for the support of large section open-off cut were determined, and the process of roof grouting reinforcement, primary penetration of open-off cut and secondary roadway expansion in the early stage of working face crossheading were optimized. The results showed that the anchor beam suspension was used to replace the single column in the grouting area, which saved the occupied space and created conditions for the moving. The secondary expansion roadway was set up in advance, which effectively prevented the increase of confining pressure and achieved effective control. It provided reference for the excavation and support of large section roadway and subsequent comprehensive utilization under similar geological conditions.
