Styrene is an important basic chemical raw material, and its monomers occupy an important position in the field of organic chemical industry. It is not only a key raw material for the production of plastics and synthetic rubber, but also a basic material for the production of polystyrene resin (PS), polystyrene foam (EPS), acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) resin and other important products. At the same time, styrene can also be used as an intermediate for medicine, pesticides, dyes and mineral dressing agents, and its application fields are evident. Highly toxic raw materials benzene and liquefied hydrocarbon ethylene were used in the styrene production process which involves alkylation and cracking processes. The alkylation reaction unit belongs to high temperature and high pressure, has a complex process flow, and has high operating stability requirements. At the same time, the product styrene has the characteristics of being extremely easy to polymerize, so achieving the safe and smooth operation of styrene devices is the focus of industry attention. The safety management measures for the production and storage of styrene devices based on the actual situation of enterprises and under the requirements of laws, regulations and national standards and specifications were discussed.
