Abstract： In order to make the geological exploration work of Tianjin coalfield have a clear purpose，find out the resource base as soon as possible, and meet the needs of clean development and utilization of coal resources, taking the occurrence conditions of coal resources in Tianjin area as the research object, through the comprehensive analysis and research on the regional geological characteristics, ancient geographical environment, coal bearing construction, coal quality characteristics, coalification and distribution characteristics of Tianjin area, combined with the occurrence characteristics of coal seams in each coal bearing area and the geological work needs of clean mining deep coal resources, the coal bearing areas were objectively divided into six parts, and the coal exploration methods of regional slice selection, geophysical exploration first, drilling verification and rapid exploration were put forward, which achieved a multiplier effect.
