In order to relieve the tension of extraction and succession, efficiently utilize the remaining coal resources in the upper part of the mine and extend the service life of the mine, the feasibility of the upper group of coal stirrup mining has been studied using the ratio method, the "three-band" method and the perimeter rock balance method. Combined with the actual situation, the coal seam spacing, interlayer structure and lithology, seam thickness, coal mining method, time interval, coal seam dip angle were taken into account. The results showed that the mine met the conditions of upper group coal seam mining, the service life of the mine was expected to be extended by 2.9 years, creating economic benefits of 520 million yuan.
