Artemisia is a medicinal plant, artemisinin is an important active component in it. The extraction experiments of artemisinin from wild artemisia which is distinguished between seeds, stems and leaves were carried out by different extraction methods, using ethanol and petroleum ether as solvent. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of artemisinin were carried out by ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry(UV-Vis). The orthogonal experiment results show that artemisinin is present in wild artemisia, the artemisia seeds have higher artemisinin content than stems and leaves, and the extraction results are better than that of ordinary temperature extraction by Soxhler's method. Ultrasonic is beneficial to extraction, and the influence of petroleum ether and ethanol on extraction is less.
