In order to improve the economic benefit and reduce the investment risk in the development and utilization of coalbed methane resources, the reservoir condition of No. 3 coal seam in the south of Daning block according to the available data and a geological evaluation of the coalbed methane well distribution area were carried out, the fracture development characteristics, ground stress, No.3 coal seam development characteristics as well as the gas content variation characteristics in the block were analyzed. Evaluation results showed that only 1 well of the 18 coal-bed methane development wells deployed in the southern margin of Daning block needs to further make sure the old coal mining area, the remaining 17 wells are in the risk zone and unfavorable zone, so the development is of great risk.
