Abstract: In view of the poor integrity and stability of roadway surrounding rock in uncovering coal area of large roadway, taking the coal-exposing section of No.1300 East roadway of a mine as the engineering background, the range of surrounding rock loose zone after roadway excavation was determined by theoretical calculation and numerical simulation. Based on the range of loose zone, the appropriate roadway supporting parameters were proposed, and the comparison simulation study and demonstration were conducted with the original supporting form. It was concluded that the maximum thickness of loose zone of roadway surrounding rock was 2.48 m. After adopting the optimized support form, the displacement of roadway roof was reduced by 27.3 mm, or 58.1%. The bottom plate was reduced by 10 mm, 41.7%; The two sides decreased by 5.8mm, or 43%; The plastic zone thicknesses of the shoulders and floor of the roadway were 1.0 m and 0.8 m, respectively, which were reduced by 0.7 m relative to the original support form. The optimized supporting parameters were reasonable and can be used in field application.
