In order to study the law of crack propagation evolution of overlying rock, taking Changhangou Mine as an example, based on mechanical properties and surrounding rock stress stability of overburden rock stratum; the law of crack propagation evolution was studied by the method of theoretic analysis and calculation, numerical simulation and field measurement. Mechanics method was established, law of crack propagation evolution was calculated. It was observed that crack propagation in the overburden rock stratum was destroyed in different degrees due to working face advancing different distance, crack propagation expanded and closed periodically; periodic weighting corresponding to law of crack propagation evolution, as well as result of field measurement and numerical simulation. Theoretic guide was supplied for prevention of overburden water permeating to working face to guarantee production safety.
