Abstract: Based on coal seam occurrence conditions, the mechanical characteristics of the surrounding rock were tested and analyzed. The stability of surrounding rock in three sections of straight wall arch, rectangular arch and straight wall arch were compared. By analysis of the plastic zone, vertical displacement and vertical stress distribution, the width of the plastic zone of the top plate was 1.5 m, 2.5 m, 1.5 m, and the width of the plastic zone of the floor 1 m, 1.5 m, 1 m, and the width of the plastic zone of the two sides was 1 m, 2 m, 1.5 m; the vertical stress was 21 MPa, 21.7 MPa, 22.2 MPa, and the top and bottom plate displacement was 40.8 mm, 85 mm, and 100 mm respectively. The most favorable section in deep coal mining was straight wall and three-core arch, and this provided reference for the optimization of mining under similar conditions.
