Dongfeng exploration area is located in the east of Zhongyi in the North of Hebei, the coal-bearing stratum is the Xiahuayuan formation of Jurassic System. The overall tectonic form of the exploration area is a broad and gentle syncline structure with axial direction from north to north east. According to the characteristics of lithology, lithofacies combination and coal bearing property, Xiahhuayuan formation is divided into upper and lower sections, the lower section contains coal, and the upper section contains no coal. The thickness of the lower segment of Xiahhuayuan formation is 131.63～830.50 m, with an average thickness of 385.26 m. It contains 9 layers of coal, but most of them are in the form of thin coal seam and coal line. The problem of coal seam correlation in exploration area is well solved by means of comprehensive comparison of lithology, lithofacies combination and 2d seismic time profile.
