In order to study the law of surrounding rock activity and gas emission in large mining height working face, the support resistance, leading bearing pressure and gas emission amount of hydraulic support of 18205 working face in Xiegou mine were measured on the site, and the support branch during mining was analyzed. The change of the resistance and the advance bearing pressure determines the relationship between the mining activity and the gas emission according to the amount of gas emission from the actual measured working surface. The results showed that the gas emission was significantly increased when the rock pressure of the 18205 working face increased. When the pressure was applied during the periodic pressure, the gas emission from the working face increased obviously. During the period of pressure, the overlying rock fissure channel was subjected to compression and impact, and the high concentration of gas flow surged into the working space, resulting in a significant increase in the gas drainage of the high-level borehole, which was basically consistent with the incoming pressure step, and the high-level drilling energy effectively intercepting the goaf and adjacent layers of gas, ensuring the safe recovery of the working face.
