To achieve the goal of cost reduction and efficiency improvement, the mining roadway support parameters for No.4-2 Coal Seam in Yuandatan Mine were taken as the research object. Various methods including field investigation, experimental testing, theoretical analysis and numerical simulation were adopted to conduct an optimization study on the mining roadway support parameters of No.4-2 coal seam in Yuandatan Mine. The results showed that the maximum roof-to-floor convergence was 17 mm, and the maximum rib-to-rib convergence was 6 mm. The range of the roof loose circle was about 1.2 m, and the range of the rib loose circle was 0.5 m. The deformation of the surrounding rock was small, so there was room for optimization in the originally designed support scheme of No. 4-2 coal mining roadway. After optimization, the anchoring force of roof bolts was 140 kN, and the anchoring force of rib bolts was 50 kN. The roof subsidence increased from 14 mm to 18.3 mm after optimization. The optimized scheme reduced the support density and support cost, and met the requirements for safe production in the mine. The study could provide a reference for roadway surrounding rock control under similar geological conditions in the mining area.
