No.11216 Face of Xingdong Mine was an isolated island working face with two sides mined out. The mining depth reached nearly 1,000 meters. Affected by high ground stress, the gob-side entry was prone to continuous large deformation during the mining service period, which posed a difficult support problem. Multiple expansions and repairs were required to realize normal mining.To solve the support problems during the mining cycle of the isolated island working face, a collaborative control technology of “external anchoring and internal unloading” was proposed. This technology adopted active enhanced support for the surrounding rock in the shallow part of the roadway to improve the self-bearing capacity of the rock, and implemented internal unloading and cavity creation in the deep part of the roadway to reduce the stress in the peak zone.Engineering practice showed that the collaborative control technology effectively alleviated the frequent repair of gob-side entries in the isolated island working face and improved the mining efficiency.
