The group A coal mining in Huainan mining area was seriously threatened by water disaster. The controllable directional drilling trajectory, the long effective exploration distance and the accurate exploration were effective means of advanced exploration of water disaster. Taking No.14121 Face of Gubei Coal Mine in Huainan mining area as an example, this paper summarized the application of underground directional drilling technology in the aspects of hydrophobic depressurization of limestone aquifer in C3I group, underground directional verification of ground regional control, exploration and injection drilling of faults and secondary fracture zones, etc. The 'trinity' mode of underground detection and control of water disaster was constructed, and the advanced control of water disaster was realized. The study provided a good reference for the control of water disaster before coal mining in group A of Huainan mining area.
