Hydrogeological disaster is one of the important factors that threaten the safety production of mining face. In order to effectively prevent water outburst accidents, it is particularly critical to implement advanced water exploration and discharge technology during roadway excavation. Taking No.3905 excavating face of air intake roadway of Yinjiagou Coal Industry as an example, this paper analyzed the water damage of the working face, determined that the main source of groundwater was JS1 water abundance abnormal area, and designed the water exploration and discharge scheme and prevention countermeasures of ' transient electromagnetic + drilling '. The field practice showed that the transient electromagnetic exploration technology was used to explore the specific water abundance situation in front of the mining roadway, and the abnormal area was verified by drilling, which reduced the risk of water disaster and ensured the safety of excavating operation.
