Taking the redirection drum of φ830 belt conveyor in Zhongxing Coal Mine as the research object, the modeling and finite element analysis are carried out. It is determined that there is a large redundancy in the structural performance of the redirection drum, which can be lightweight transformed. The optimization function is established by topology optimization method, and the lightweight design of the reversing drum is carried out. There is no significant difference in the stress and deformation of the optimized redirection drum. The redirection drum still has high mechanical properties, and the stress concentration problem is eliminated to a certain extent, which shows that the lightweight transformation scheme is feasible.
