In order to ensure the safety and stability of surrounding rock in roadway excavation and mining stage of 122104 super large mining height working face in Caojiatan Coal Mine, this paper studies the design of coal pillar width of roadway protection in the working face. Through three methods of engineering analogy, numerical simulation and theoretical calculation, the distribution characteristics of displacement, stress and plastic zone of roadway surrounding rock under different coal pillar widths are comprehensively analyzed. The results show that the width of 25 m coal pillar can not only ensure the safety and stability of the roadway, but also make rational use of coal resources. It is a more suitable coal pillar width. The research provides experience for the optimization of the width of the coal pillar in the super-large mining height working face.
