Based on the engineering background of No.4103 auxiliary haulage roadway in Great Wall No.1 Coal Mine, based on the actual geological conditions of the mine and the demand of roadway support, the systematic research on the technology of gob-side entry retaining in the working face of large dip angle coal mining was carried out. Aiming at the stability of roadway surrounding rock, a comprehensive reinforcement support scheme was proposed. Based on the roof control theory, the technical parameters of pre-splitting cutting were designed. Combined with the requirements of mine ventilation, the layout of ventilation system during gob-side entry retaining was optimized. The supporting safety technical safeguard measures were formulated. Through the analysis of field engineering practice and mine pressure observation data, the results showed that the technical scheme could control the deformation of surrounding rock, the convergence of the roof and floor of the roadway and the convergence of the two sides remained within the allowable range of the project, and the overall stability of the roadway was significantly improved. The research verified the applicability of the gob-side entry retaining technology under the condition of steeply dipping coal seam, and provided technical parameters that can be used for reference for gob-side entry retaining projects under similar geological conditions. The data of mine pressure behavior obtained in the research process had reference value for improving the theoretical system of gob-side entry retaining.
