Study on surrounding rock stability of supporting roadway with narrow coal pillar under roof cutting condition

Abstract: In view of the roof cutting and pressure relief at the edge of the upper section of the goaf, numerical simulation method was used to analyze the stress transfer law in the overlying rock after the surrounding rock of the roadway was cut off from the upper section of the goaf by comparing the pressure relief law of the coal pillar and the surrounding rock of the roadway under different roof cutting heights. The results showed that the roof cutting and pressure relief could realize the active regulation of the stress of the surrounding rock of the roadway. Under the condition of roof cutting and no roof cutting, the stress distribution and displacement showed a completely opposite trend. The roof cutting not only reduced the stress peak of the surrounding rock of the roadway, but also reduced its overall displacement. And after increasing the cutting height, the peak stress was not greatly reduced.
