In order to study the risk of a newly-built project of sodium methoxide methanol solution of a chemical enterprise, risk matrix method and fault tree analysis method were used to evaluate the risk of the sodium methoxide production plant of this enterprise, the risk grade of sodium methoxide production plant and the minimum cut set of explosion accident of sodium methoxide production plant were obtained, and the corresponding suggestions and measures were put forward according to the risk assessment results. The results show that the hazard level of sodium methoxide production plant, sodium methoxide drying workshop, methanol, sodium methoxide tank group and solid sodium methoxide warehouse is grade III, the probability of explosion accident of sodium methoxide production plant is 0.035, and the probability importance degree and structure importance degree of basic cause event of the explosion accident of sodium methoxide production plant are obtained. It provides theoretical and technical support for the implementation of the new-built sodium methoxide project of the enterprise, and escorts the safety production of the enterprise.
