Abstract: The goaf water accumulation formed by irregular mining and small kiln damage mining before the integration of Niushan Mine was a major safety threat to the mining of underlying coal seams in the mine. Therefore, the prevention and control of goaf water damage was an important safety work in Niushan Mine. Combined with the surface geophysical exploration project recently carried out in Niushan Mine, the geophysical characteristics of the work area were summarized and analyzed through the investigation engineering examples, the geophysical exploration methods were selected scientifically and reasonably, and the comprehensive interpretation was carried out combined with the geological conditions. The results showed that the investigation results were consistent with the exposed geological information, and the comprehensive surface geophysical exploration technology had good effect in forecasting water damage, which played a positive role in coal mine safety production.
