In order to solve the problem of serious deformation of the return airway in the corresponding section after the stoppage of the coal mining face in the Mugua Mine, numerical simulation and theoretical analysis were used to determine the reasonable stoppage of the coal pillar width at the 10-102 working face, as 70 m. Using hydraulic fracturing and cutting top pressure-relief technology could effectively reduce the disturbance of the surrounding rock in the working face. The hydraulic fracturing drilling parameters were designed according to the specific mining technical conditions of the 10-102 working face. During the field application, the working resistance of the hydraulic support on the working face and the surrounding rock displacement of the return airway were observed. The hydraulic fracturing drilling holes were arranged in the working roadways on both sides of the working face, and the cutting effect was good. The deformation of surrounding rock was effectively controlled within a reasonable range, and a good application effect was obtained.
