In order to solve the problem of difficult support and high maintenance cost of thick coal seam roadway in Yungang Mine, a new roadway support scheme was proposed in the working face of 8615-1. By comparing and analyzing the results of displacement monitoring and stress monitoring of the original support scheme and the new support scheme, it was found that under the new support scheme, the 8615-1 working face had a slowly rising trend after reaching the pre-tightening force, and finally stabilized. The top plate had a better control effect, and the maximum load of all anchor cables was significantly less than the 353 kN of the anchor cable. The anchoring force of the anchor cable was 1/2 of the cable breaking load. The deformation speed of the roadway was obviously slowed down, the deformation of the roadway could be effectively suppressed, the roadway support effect was good, the maintenance and management cost of the roadway was reduced, and the economic and social benefits were remarkable.
