In order to solve the problem of complicated construction technology in serious deformation of surrounding rock and high cost of support caused by raft support in the return air roadway of the fully mechanized caving face in Gaohe Mine, the high water material was settled after multi-angle comparison. The test results showed that the maximum amount from top to bottom of the roadway was 291 mm and 186 mm respectively, and the maximum contraction of the pier was only 67 mm, which could ensure the safe production needs of the mine.
