In preparation process of 1,3-propylene (1,3-PDO) during the fermentation of glycerol by Klebsiella pneumoniae 1,3- propylene glycol (1,3-PDO) process, different air volume control had important influence on cell growth, product formation and by-products. Through analysis of the changes of air volume control in the fermentation process of metabolism, the obtained results were the normal volume was conductive to the generation of the PDO, the formation of by-products of lactate was theory, the salt concentration in fermentation liquid was reduced when improving the air flow in about 32 h. Through controlling the air flow of the two stages, named in air flow control was 0.18 vvm before 32 hours of fermentation, the air flow was 0.21 vvm in later stage, and the production of lactic acid was effectively inhabited, the final concentration of 1,3-PDO reached 70.52 g/L, lactate content decreased to below 20 g/L, glycerol molar conversion rate reached 58.6%.
