Coal seam floor failure was an important channel for guiding water and gas in mining process of working face, which had a direct effect on water control and gas drainage. In order to study depth of coal seam floor failure after mining in 01658 working face, fracture mechanics calculation formula, plastic mechanics formula and empirical formula were used to analyze failure zone depth. With fracture mechanics calculation in 01658 working face, the maximum failure depth was 25.73m; maximum failure depth calculated by plastic mechanics was 17.0 m; and maximum depth of the floor failure was 26.60m based on empirical formula. Finally, as to ensure safety production, the choice of floor damage depth should be 26.60 m.
