Abstract:Taking the main coal seam of Lingshi mining area in Shanxi Province as the research object, the occurrence of coal seam gas and its influencing factors were analyzed. The results showed that the average gas content of the main coal seam in Lingshi mining area was 2.48 m3/t, and the average methane concentration was 29.41 %. The gas content and methane concentration were low, and the study area was a poor gas area. The degree of coalification of the coal seam was medium, the macerals were mainly vitrinite, and the gas generation was limited. The relatively dense roof and floor were conducive to the preservation of coal seam gas; burial depth was one of the main controlling factors of gas occurrence in No.10 coal seam, and gas content was positively correlated with burial depth. The tectonic uplift after the hydrocarbon generation period and the development of tensile faults had caused a large amount of coal seam gas to escape in the study area, which was the main reason for the poor gas in the study area.
